School Governance – I am chair of governors at a wonderful local special school, Mayfield School in Hensingham. It is a warm and welcoming place, full of talented, caring, tireless staff and engaging, special pupils, where potential is developed and glass ceilings are absent. Good governors are needed by all schools, to support and challenge school leaders and ensure that every pupil is safe, well and makes progress both in their academic education but also vitally in their preparation for independence and life.
